KaTY rEEvE

You might know Katy Reeve as an Award Winning Stylist and Hairdressing Educator, but did you know her Dad Keith guided Gianni Scumaci through an apprenticeship before Katy cut her hairdressing teeth? Or that she finds her peace in 1000 piece puzzles, has a powerful set of singing pipes and is a self confessed cheese fiend?

Sausages to Super Stardom

Katy was born in Lincoln, in England’s East Midlands . It was here in 1995 that Katy gained her Apprentice stripes under the tutelage of her Dad Keith, in his salon Talking Heads. At Talking Heads, Katy learnt that skill had to precede the sexy stuff and as a hairdresser she was part of the service industry first and foremost. It is an essence that has kept Katy’s feet firmly grounded on the salon floor, despite her portfolio of pinch me moments as an applauded Hair Artist.

Scissor Skills Training

Katy met Toni

In 1998, 19 year old Katy packed a navy leather suitcase, outlined her lips in Rimmel Black Cherry and headed to London. In Covent Garden she knocked on the door of a hairdressing superbrand that would become instrumental in her hair career, and instigate a move to another hemisphere. Katy spent just over two years completing the stringent TONI&GUY vardering curriculum, and working in two of London's busiest salons; Wimbledon and Covent Garden.

Master Hairdresser

Back to her Roots

After a two year sabbatical in the big city, Katy headed back home and spent 4 years at Talking Heads as a Senior Stylist, she was also appointed as the Salon Manager and Trainer. Working on the floor with various experience levels and personality types, Katy saw first hand that getting the best out of each stylist needed a tailored approach.

Sydney Bound

Sydney Hairstylist

In 2004, Katy made a beeline for Manly, a popular destination for backpackers and a bunch of hairdressers with Working Holiday Visas. After a two year appointment as TONI&GUY Manly’s Stylist Assistant Trainer, Katy bought into the TONI&GUY Franchise Group and spent 5 years running the busy salon on Central Avenue.

Having maintained a foot in TONI&GUY’s Paddington Academy throughout her time as a Franchisee, in 2013 Katy was asked to take on the role of Commander in Chief as the National Creative Director for TONI&GUY Australia.

And Now…

Independent Educator and Freelance Hairstylist

Since 2022, post pandemic, Katy has been an Independent, or an ‘Indi’ as her Unwritten community group fondly calls her. She is a freelance Northern Beaches Hairdresser and an Independent Educator of salons throughout Australia.

On days off the salon floor, Katy can be found educating other members of the industry who like her, believe in the value of ongoing education and engage Katy as an extended member of their salon family to train their staff. Katy also joined the Jocio Education Team as a Guest Artist for 2025.

Scissors to Soccer fields

When not in possession of her fav Excellent Edges silverware, Katy spends much of her time on the sideline of Soccer fields, or sourcing bait for her teenage son’s fishing expeditions.

Katy begins every day with a sweat sesh at The Chocolate Box or a walk around Long Reef Headland as well as attending regular practice with Krystle’s Yoga and Wellness.

Online shopping and sipping on a London Dry Gin also populate Katy’s favourite pastimes, although if asked what her ideal day looked like, she’d say a long beach walk, watching her kids have fun in the surf and a sundowner French cheese board with her cherished camping crew.
